The Department of Immigration Services has suspended passports belonging to a section of National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders as gov’t crackdowns following opposition’s ‘óathing’ ceremony.
Among those affected are Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Siaya Senator James Orengo, businessman Jimi Wanjigi and NASA strategist David Ndii.
In a letter seen by Citizen Digital to David Ndii, the department asked him to surrender his passport within twenty one days following the notice.
” Pursuant to Section 31 (1) (2) of the Kenyan Citizenship and Immigration Act 2011, you are hereby notified that passport number C051258 which is in your possession remains suspended forthwith” read the letter in part
While the letter did not offer any explanations, the letter signed by Maj. Gen (Rtd) Dr. Gordon Odemo Kihalangwa , Director, Department of Immigration Services, the letter further warned that failure to surrender the passport would declare it null and void.
