A group of 11 foreign envoys have renewed calls for dialogue between National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a statement seen by TUKO.co.ke on Saturday, February 10, the envoys led by US Ambassador Robert Godec urged Odinga to accept Uhuru as Kenya's duly and legitimately elected president.
“The opposition leaders need to accept that Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto are the legitimately elected president and deputy president of the Republic of Kenya," read the statement in part.

The envoys held that threats and extra-constitutional measures that were being adopted by the opposition leaders will not help them get to power and that only dialogue can help the country forge ahead.

As captured in previous reports by TUKO.co.ke, Odinga has been agitating for major electoral reforms that will culminate into a fresh election and insists that he will not stop fighting for electoral justice.

The NASA leader has also on numerous occasions said he doesn't and will not recognize the Jubilee government and has even gone ahead to take oath as people's president.
Most recently he called for election amid aggressive crackdown on opposition leaders following the controversial inauguration on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Uhuru Park.
President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party had indicated that they will only engage opposition leaders on development oriented dialogue/Uhuru Kenyatta.
There has been numerous calls by both local and foreign leaders for Odinga and Uhuru to talk things out following the disputed 2017 general elections. That much needed talk is yet to happen.
Both sides of the political divide (NASA coalition and Jubilee Party) have set pre-conditions for the dialogue, making it nearly impossible for them to come to a round table.
Whereas the ruling party (Jubilee) insists it will only engage the opposition chiefs in development oriented dialogue, Odinga is only interested in talking about electoral reforms and a possible new election.
